The Trojan War
MocoMUN Joint Crisis Committee
Walter Johnson MUN
Hello delegates, I would like to welcome you to the Joint Crisis Committee for the Trojan War. My name is Kate Canavan and I have the privilege of being your chair for this committee.
Because I am your chair for the day, I would like to give you a bit more information about myself before delving into the subject, the Trojan War. I am Kate Canavan and this is my second year participating in Model United Nations. I am the secretary at the Walter Johnson High School Model United Nations club and I enjoy every minute of Model UN! Aside from Model United Nations, you can find me playing field hockey and lacrosse or reading books. Not only do I love Model UN, but I also love Latin. This is my third year taking Latin and the Trojan War is one of the most exciting parts. Fellow Greeks, it is absurd that the Trojans thinks we will sit around while Paris, son of King Priam, kidnaps our beloved Helen,. The Trojans do not think we have the power to keep what is rightfully ours. This disrespect will not be permitted. Now, it is 1260 B.C.E. and we will invade Troy to get Helen back to Menelaus and restore honor to us, Greeks! The Trojans will be a powerful enemy but, if all of the Greek leaders unite, we will be able to defeat the Trojans and prove our superiority. Honestly delegates, I am really excited to see how you can solve this issue and bring an end to this war. In the JCC, there are many surprising twists and turns, so be sure to anticipate and adapt to the situation. Try to research as much as you can so that you will be able to make the best decisions for Greece! Good luck delegates, and let’s make Troy fall! If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please email me! Best of Luck, Kate Canavan Walter Johnson High School [email protected] |
Hello delegates. Welcome to the 2015 Montgomery County Joint Crisis Committee. This year, we tackle one of the most alluring series of events in history and mythology, the Trojan war. I am Shashank Narayan, and it is my utmost honor to be your chair as we simulate this legendary war between two great ancient powers.
Delegates of MocoMUN, you can rest assured as I am a Model UN veteran. This is my third year in the program and second year participating in MocoMun. Currently, I am the Membership Chair of my local Model UN chapter at Walter Johnson. I love Greek mythology so rest assured that I am as enthusiastic about having a positive and productive experience as you are. As the Trojans, it is our goal to protect our dear city from the terror of foreign invasion. The Greeks have brought vast numbers of troops across the Aegean and threaten our families, our children and our superior culture. When you make your decisions in committee, keep in mind that the fates of thousands of citizens you have sworn to protect lie in the balance. I am extremely excited to be chair of the JCC. Expect the debate to be much faster paced than a regular General Assembly and prepare for plenty of curveballs thrown your way from our HQ team. Good luck delegates and may the Gods favor the Trojans. Do not hesitate to email me with any questions! Shashank Narayan Walter Johnson HS [email protected] |
